I'm troubleshooting my oem cruise control, failed at e first step with no power off of brake switch. Without thinking about it, I ordered a replacement (AC Delco D850a, not listed in parts interchange but it looks to fit). When it showed up, I pulled the original part and saw it could be disassembled. Figuring I had nothing to lose, popped the tabs and investigated.
Turned out to be just enough corrosion on the contact points to prevent a good connection. A few invites with a wire brush and needle file worked wonders. As good as new!
Took a few tries wi the multimeter to confirm I had the switch positioned again correctly in relation to the brake lever. Probably last another 40 years now and I get to return the AC Delco part.
