Bought myselv a preused alternator to have as a spare. Supposed to come from a caddy. It is a 27,si. But no further disription

Is there anyway to tell the Amperage ?
Also any tips on testing the thing?

If it is Delco you might be able to tell by looking up the part number on it here.

Found it. A friendly gmc'er send me a picture. Tank you ! There are id numbers in the body next to the threaded lug. Mine is 80 A. That is fine
Now I want to be sure it is good

As to the list from cumberlandstrucks, thanks for the link
Sorry to say that the list seems to be wrong. I have 2 ex from serial numbers that are listed as 100A but are stamped on the body with 80 A?..
