Our New and Improved coach, now with Fuel Injection an Electronic Distributor and a high-falutin EBL just took us for an evening in the redwoods.
From Fremont we drove to the coast looking for something nice and I thought about Big Basin, not remembering what a torturous drive it is up into the Santa Cruz mountains (peaks about 2,000’ from sea level). She drove beautifully - what a pleasure to have a smooth and responsive engine under foot.
I enlisted the help of the folks on the GMC EFI list (most of whom are here too) to help get me through the process. If I were to do this again I’d do it in 1/10 the time. No futzing and worrying and just getting her done. Just like I’ve heard so many times - this really is a straight forward project. It was likely made easier by the fact that I have the Rockwell intake manifold, and Jim K just a few miles away!
I did have trouble with the installation but Jim kindly squeezed me in and found a bad throttle body that he replaced as well as a mis-connected sensor. In no time we were on the road. Randy Van Winkle helped tremendously and now we are feeling the benefits of many acronyms - EFI, EBL, ESC, etc.
I can not overestimate the value of this community, the GMC EFI community, and the wonderful support particularly from Randy and Jim K. I’m lucky to live in Fremont and have Jim so close.
Also - and I should have this tattooed onto my forehead - don’t be so timid!
