I just saw Applied is selling original design airbag as new?
Where are they made and they seem expensive.

John,
They come from Cinnabar Engineering: http://www.thegmcmotorhomepeople.com/ and if you want to keep the same handling characteristics
as designed by the GMC suspension engineers you will need the OEM bag.
THAT STATEMENT IS NOT MEANT TO DENIGRATE ANY OF THE OTHER SYSTEMS OUT THERE IT IS MERELY A STATEMENT OF FACT.
As far as expensive goes in comparison to other systems out there you are correct, however, when Firestone announced that they were
ceasing production rumor said it was because the tooling was worn out and / or there wasn't enough turnover to keep them as a
product line. The price jumped to $250 per bag and as the supply dwindled it went up to $750 per bag.
About a year or so ago Cinnabar GMC announced that they had commissioned a new manufacturer for the bags and the last time I checked
sold them for $400 each. As far as I know they have not advised where they get them from but rumor has it that they are made in
India.
Double Trouble has a set of new bags that were installed in 2008 and I have one Firestone NOS spare I got off eBay for $100. To
enhance it's longevity I sprayed it with 303 Aerospace Protectant and put in a large Zip Lock bag then into a dark cardboard box.
The Blue Streak has a Four Bag system built by Leigh Harrison. Unfortunately Leigh passed away recently and I don't know if his
system is still available. It works fine but the ride is different. Whether it is better or worse is a matter of opinion, some guys
like the way a 1970's Caddy ride other like the ride of a sports car.

BTW as noted in my earlier email I have one NOS OEM Firestone airbag and John Sharpe sold one to Peter Bailey. Both of them came with aluminum cones therefore I would ASSUME that's the way Firestone sold them to GMC originally and to Cinnabar afterwards.
I don't think so. I have a few new bags and they have OEM cartons. They are packaged two ways. A long box with the bag extended and a short box with the bag compressed and with aluminum cones. This compressed bag is secured into the cones with fiberglass packing tape.

Two years ago as we were checking over and replacing everything we didn't trust on the Kinglsey we bought in late 2012 we decided to replace the OEM airbags. We bought 2 new ones from Cinnabar around January 2013. At that time they were out of their original stock and had placed an order for replacements bases on the OEM design and copy rights. Cinnabar ownes a lot of the OEM copy rights of the GMC motorhome. They ordered quite a number to try and keep the cost down. We put the two new airbags on and they have been performing just fine ever since. We kept the two we took off as spares. What airbag system you use is your call. We're trying to keep as much of the original design going except when newer technology makes more sense, such as in the case of the buz box. Steve at Cinnabar did say the new airbags were made in a foreign county but I can't remember where exactly although I seem to recall it wasn't China. Cinnabar likes to keep things as much original as possible so last we knew they don't recommend shut off or shrader valves by the airbags. Shut off and shrader valves were on our coach when we got it and we've left them in case the air system goes down and we could then manually isolate and inflate the airbags.
A side note - Cinnabar has done the same with the single black and water supply tanks. They were remanufactured to the OEM specs and we've replaced both tanks on our coach with the new ones sold by Cinnabar. Both fit just like the originals. The water supply tank went in perfectly. The black tank is a little bigger and went in nicely with just a slight modification that maybe have been necessary because of our installation method. We also installed a macerator that has been working great and we posted photos of the way we store the 20 foot length of 1 inch macerator hose starting here:

Can't say enough about the help this forum has provided us, thanks!
