This winter I'll be doing the timing chain and aluminum intake swap. Heck with that much apart swapping in a new cam would be easy work.

Anyone done the Mondello cam swap, any dyno or opinions/mileage on the results?

I'd go with the Jim Bounds Kryptonite cam if I was going to change one.

I wouldn't buy anything from Mondello, esp a cam.
It's probablly a race cam not an RV cam.
Jim B has a really nice flat tappet cam and a nicer roller cam
Either one will make you happy.

I have the flat tappet cam...

Thanks Guys, a couple of the GMC only sites recommend the Mondello CAM (they have two RV grinds), and JimB's site is kinda a mess, even after extensive searching I missed is offering!

Glad I asked thanks to all.

You could also ask Dick Paterson his choice he suggested a nice high torque flat cam that worked real well for me from comp cams..

Andy,
Go Here: http://www.gmccoop.com/koba_built_motors.htm scroll down to: “Best parts for the job and the build” and then you will see the information on the cams for both motors and is even available for the Cad motor.

Going back a while, as I recall Jim B spent a lot of time on R and D on the cam specs, and those are now availible in the Comp catalog much to his resentment. I also seem to recall he does not sell the roller cam apart from the engine package due to modifications needed
One problem I heard of is machining the underside of the stock style recessed manifold to clear the roller tappets.
I do think he sells the flat tappet cam separately, and it would be good to get it from him if you can. Comp isnt hurting for business
He is a big proponeant of running rollers these days. But it is expensive up front when you cant use OEM parts like fords or chevys

looking at the Mondello RV grinds, they should work fine

Apparantly, my winterfeldt engine runs a melling cam that works well and is inexpensive
