My 78 came with SS hub caps that fit both 16, and 16.5 rims. Most SS caps do. And those caps aren't expensive. I then went to Midwest wheel for 6 16" rims. One caliper up front was shaped a little different. Grinder fixed that. You could buy 6 SS hub caps. And 2 16" steel rims. That way all 6 will look the same no matter the size. When those tires aged out. I got Eagles from Jim K. Sold the 6 tires and rims to someone that had a 1 ton dually with 16.5's so he could convert over. Got $1200 for the 6 . Then that paid a nice part for my new tires, and alum rims. Bob Dunahugh

About 9 year ago. Someone I knew bought a GMC that was fairly nice. But the 16.5 tires were getting close to aging out. There was about a 3 year span on the tires. I told him to get some used 16 inch rims and tires from a large salvage yard here. He took his time, and was able to get tires that were less than 2 years old each. 2 at a time over a year or so. Did a nice job of painting them to match. He ended up having about $350 in all 6. The tires weren't all the same brand. So what. The size was correct. Then about 2 year later he got some SS hub caps. Looked great. Bob Dunahugh
