Called Dave today and he sounds GREAT!! He's still on limited duty. He can't lift over 10 lbs but has little pain and is walking every day, climbing stairs into his shop, and working in his mill and lathe. He goes back to the Doctor on July 8 and is hoping for a release to drive and increase his lifting limit to 35 lbs.
He said the surgery did not get into his abdomen so he was able to sit up and move around without the typical pain and recovery of normal surgery in that area.
Great news!
