Johnny, I do not follow you on this "shutoff method" and how it applies to K2.
The series resistor needs to be approximately 1/2 the value of the relay coil. The OEM coil was around 400 ohms coil resistance with 200 ohms resistance in series. I believe there is approximately 18 volts DC applied to the pair so 2/3 of the drop is on the coil and 1/3 of the drop was in the series resistor.
When I was repairing those boards I found several where the series resistor had changed value over the years. One was shorted taking out the K2 coil and several were higher resistance causing low voltage across the coil.
I often thought of just replacing the whole mess (relay, diode, cap, and resistor) with a 28 volt AC coil relay. Instead I quit fixing those boards and replaced them with a Dinosaur board.
