At the fall rally in Wisconsin, someone showed me two steel plates that were used to reinforce the awning mount.
I've been looking in al lthe usual places and don't see them.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Thanks!

I made plates from flat stainless stock, screwed and secured with marine construction adhesive. The abraded body panel was filled with body filler. The awning hinges were then screwed through with stainless fasteners. I had photos but a computer failure in May has left me unable to locate them. Will try further.

Correction. The flat stock is aluminium. I was pondering this problem and saw the solution on a coach (I don't recall whose) at the Three Club Rally, at Coos Bay. Using his example and with the advise of a friend who does body work for the local transit system, I proceeded as follows:

The abraded areas were ground out. a piece of 4" x 4" .040 aluminium was inserted between the body skin and the body frame member. Sikaflex 291 marine sealant/adhesive was forced in and the area was clamped. The voids were filled with Evercoat Everglass body filler. After curing it was sanded and the predrilled outer plate was clamp mounted and diagonally drilled and screwed. The outer plate was then removed, Sikaflex applied and remounted. The awning hardware was reattached to the awning with the awning secured in the travel position. The hinge/base was then mounted and screwed.

I know I was told that a supplier made them.
They go on the top mount, not the bottom.

My fiberglass is all mucked up in the rear is why I ask.
