Hello folks. Yesterday I was in contact with Manny about purchasing one of his One Ton conversion kits. I (nor anyone else) cannot buy from him because all 60 (30 sets) of lower control arms have been sent out to the last 30 or so customers BUT none/zero/nada of the original/core LCAs have been returned to Manny from those customers (!!!!?).

I realize that some customers may not have started or completed their conversions, but those of us who would like to purchase Manny's kit are not able to because apparently 30 of those customers who have completed their conversions have not sent their cores back to Manny. And just one or two folks sending them back won't help much as Manny tells me his welder will not do less than ten (five sets) at a time. Plus mine is a '73, so the other option isn't feasible either.

So please, pretty please, with a juicy cherry on top, return your LCA cores to Manny so my family and I can go camping this August - and Manny can continue to offer his mega cool stuff to us. Or perhaps sell me yours if you haven't gotten around to it so I can send my cores to Manny and help another GMCer toward being able to do their conversion.

ADD EDIT: Want to save on packing AND shipping? If you're in SoCal and have those old LCAs laying around, hell, I'll even do a sweep and pick them up from you and (hopefully) deliver a bunch of LCA sets to Manny myself.

Thank you so much.

It is a sorry state of affairs when Manny supplies stuff on the honor system then gets ripped off. I bought the 1ton from Manny with no core charge but I was lucky enough to have a friend that was going to the Bay Area and drop it off with Gene who in turn got the parts to Manny. Shipping is expensive but you gotta do it if you buy stuff and promise to return the old parts or find some way to get them to Manny. Which reminds me I got to call Manny and see if he got my tranny to Reno.

I'll have to refute that report, in self defense: I don't want to be
included in the group which has failed to return cores! When I visited
Manny in July 2014, I carried to him at least 2 sets (my memory's not good
enough to verify that it was 3 sets). Mine and one other from
installations done here shortly before the trip.

But I do know that Manny has always had that problem. I've encouraged him
to impose a stiff core charge. Nope, not Manny; he's too good (soft)
hearted to make important to his customers to return them, so no one wants
to spend the effort and shipping cost to do the RIGHT THING!

PLEASE, be as nice to Manny as he is to all of us! RETURN THOSE CORE
A-ARMS!

Bought one of Manny's first batches last year took me three months but finally finding someone who let me use their UPS acct. I shipped the lowers back wasn't cheap but the kit was I thank Manny for putting together a reasonable priced kit that works. If you have one of his kits and haven't returned the cores please do so it is only hurting the rest of the GMC community.

To Ken Henderson and others of good enough character to make sure their LCA cores made it back to Manny, perhaps I should amend it to say "the last 30 customers"...

We have other people rebuilding or upgrading hard to replace parts.

If you have purchased parts form any one of these people, they really need the cores returned. I have had this discussion with several. Because I usually have the coach down for the winter, I can pull the subject part and wait. If I needed something in a hurry, I might not have that luxury.

We all know that these people are not getting rich helping us, so the least you can do is help them to help other owners stay on the road.

yup, he's sold way more than 30 kits. I've also tried to encourage him to have a hefty core charge, but he really is too nice.
He's actually had people get mad at him for not giving them money back when they finally returned the cores,
and then have the gall to say "well, if I'd known you hadn't charged me, I wouldn't have returned them!"

Jim, is he going to have room for a tranny core? I still have mine to return. I can bring it down when he is coming so you don't need to store it.

To be honest, when I bought my one ton from Manny, he never mentioned the cores or that he needed them back. I thought we were paying an extra $200 for the LCA's at the time. As easy going as Manny is with money sometimes, I can see where this may have happened to others and they may not be aware that he needs them back. I'm glad this issue has been brought to every ones attention as I'm sure the honest folks here will do the right thing.

Manny builds a great plywood crate to ship your kit to you. Just empty and reload the old LCAs, screw shut and return.

Just thinking they might be a substitute if the cores don't come back, a quick car-part search shows quite a few available.

I'm glad this came up as I often save up and buy parts when they are available, and it may be well in advance of doing the actual work. The torsion bars come to mind. I wonder how many other folks have done something similar and just haven't installed them yet?

I was wanting to go one ton, but have held off getting the kit until I actually have a running coach... Now I'm glad I didn't, as I would be one of those sitting on a pair of arms.
