Is there anyone near Ashville, NC who can provide information or help to a
GMCer? A fellow Georgian just called me to ask for any hints about
replacing the failed water pump on his 455. I didn't have any good news
for him, especially since he still has the OEM '77 fan shroud -- NOT split.

Let me know if you're nearby and can offer any assistance and I'll provide
his cell number off-line.

It's about a three hour ride. I got tools and greasy hands. Is he where it can be safely worked on? Can he stay in it if necessary? It's a PIA, but doable... set the fan out in the shroud, take off the pulley and belts and A/C bracket and alt bracket and PS bracket and it comes out. Takes time, but if all the bolts come out OK, a new pump can be fitted.

If you need another pair of hands lemme know. 4oh4seven2five5one6zero

Nelson, Johnny, Gordon, etc.,

I just talked to John F. He's in a WalMart parking lot so he can get tools
if he needs more. He's got the old one off (out the top) and is about to
install the spare he has with him. Turns out, I'd said something about his
WP when we were together last, so he'd packed a new one, just in case.

Thanks to everyone for the offers of help -- WHAT A COMMUNITY!
