Trip report June 18-24, 2015. Blew the third of my 6 almost new Delta Tires on the GMC. AAA didn't show at all and after three hours I called a local tire store. "If I agree to buy 4 tires from you, how long will it be for you to get a service truck out here?" " 'bout fiteen minits" was the reply. I cancelled the call to AAA and sure enough the service truck came on time. He didn't have a wrench to fit the Alcoas, but I did. Went into town and bought 4 new BFG LT range E tires. I didn't even look at the invoice. I didn't want to ruin the rest of the trip. I put one of the Deltas on my spare and gave him the other 2. Probably didn't have 2000 miles on them and 2 years old. Note to self: don't ever buy cheap tires again.
After a couple of nights at Indian Springs State Park (GA) Elise and I moved to Old Federal Campground at Lake Lanier. On the 2nd day there, we came into town to "supervise" my son's move into his new house. He had no moving "help" and got none from me and my degenerative disky back. Luckily he is a man of few possessions...and a patient girlfriend and mother.
On June 23, we were in Atlanta (about 40 miles from our campsite) and my daughter called. She was headed to the hospital, one month early, with a baby on the way. Katherine Leigh Harper was born that evening at 7:30, healthy and happy. This is our 2nd grandchild and to say I'm happy understates the situation.
Yesterday, the 24th, we packed up and headed home. 97 degrees in Atlanta and it took us 6 hours to make a 120 mile trip. Traffic was awful.
Damage to the GMC from the blowout was, luckily, not major.
