In my back yard is a 78, model unknown. I know the brakes are bad an we don't have keys for some and a title for any. One rear wheel is locked up probably because the wheel cylinder leaked. The disks look terrible, but they could be sanded enough to drive it somewhere. As said, all those things can be remedied if it is worth the effort. It still has pretty nice upholstery, but some of the rear bedroom is water damaged. This weekend, we pulled the engine through two full turns and it felt pretty good. I might have tried to start it, but some animal ate the ignition leads on the left side. And, the frame passes a hammer test.

Now, that we know the engine isn't locked up. (There were signs that it was driven to where it lay.) This may leave the possibility of salvage open.

It has no generator and as I can't get the service door open, I haven't been able to put power onboard to check out the the reefer. It does have two roof units, a ladder and a pod.

It arrived here as a stopover. It was purchased by the actual owner as a hedge. If it isn't going to leave here intact, he has parts he wants.

I am on the fence. I know about how much it will take to make it drivable. It can't be towed any distance and still be worth more than scrap. To scrap it, it has to be pretty completely disassembled, but if the big plastic parts have value, that might be it.

What is the opinion of experienced people as to the saleability of this as a unit?

I'd put a battery in it and a gas can on the floor and a set of cheap wires and spin it and run it. Trans checks and engine checks, you can pursue whether you wanna rehab or part it out. Pictures maybe? Value is gonna depend on runs and trans checks out, and moreso on interior condition. What's water damaged? Inside ceiling only, or walls, cabinets, etc.? Right at $3 Large to haul my trailer up there, load it, and haul it to GA. Assuming you got a ditch or slope to load it. Parts queen is $1 Large give or take.

Not running and driving...a grand. maybe I sold most the easy stuff from my parts coach and got about $500 back. Be aware that most salvage yards will NOT even TAKE a motorhome because of all the non-metal components. I wanted to scrap everything but the rolling chassis and I would have had to PAY more to get someone to take the body than I paid for the whole thing ($1000 non running). There was no interest in any of the glass or body parts. Some of the offers I got for things that just don't exist were frankly insulting and weren't even worthy my time to remove the parts.

Drivable and runs/shifts good..3-4K depending on glass, rubber, interior, paint. Doesn't run and shift so good, back to a grand or so.

Lack of title may be an issue. In Alabama if a vehicle is more than 35 years old, no title is required or issued. Don't know what the laws are in Michigan. If it can't be driven or titled, it will have to be a local buyer as shipping gets expensive fast. I would not take it for free because it would cost more than it's worth to get it the 1000 miles to my place.

Just my opinion.
