After it is raining my electric wipers will not turn off. In fact they speed up when turned off. After everything dries out they work fine. The speedup when turned off makes me think the park feature is not working.

Any ideas or should I just swap it out. BTW when I installed it a year ago I opened up the cover over the electronics and everything was clean, w/o corrosion and the contacts looked good.

Steve,

It sounds to me like you need to remove the motor, open the back, remove
the printed circuit board, and clean everything thoroughtly. If you do it
right after the problem arises, I suspect you'll find moisture inside.

Since the delay function is controlled by an RC time constant, with the
500k Ohm rheostat part of the R, that is a high impedance circuit. Even a
little moisture on the PC board can decrease R to where there is no delay
-- which is really an overide of the park circuit.

With everything dried out, when you reassemble the cover, put some sealant,
like silicone grease, around the flange to help keep moisture out.

It's very unlikely that it's anything else. You may want to consider
putting a waterproof "curtain" beneath the hood, as many have done, to keep
rainwater from falling on the MC, wiper, and anything else in the area.

Ken,
What's the advisability of coating both sides of the PC board and its components with a conformal coating like the Onan circuit boards?

Naturally, they're already coated, but not extremely well. However,
because the board plugs into the housing, and those contacts include the
high impedance delay circuit, the coating doesn't take care of everything.
I should have suggested, however, coating those contacts with silicone
dielectric grease also.
