So who do you guys think will be at the "West Coast GMCers European Tour" in Basel ?
It's an hours' drive away.
Should I go there ?
What do you think ?

There will be an international contingent. Canadian, American, and
Austrailian. 20 GMCers are signed up. We all would love to meet any and all
European GMCers. Probably be a once in a lifetime opportunity. We drive
further than an hour just for a good cup of coffee or meals here on the
West Coast. Oregon has one county larger than most countries in Europe.
Actually larger than 5 Eastern States in total land area. ( brag off).

Hi Dominik

There will be at least 12 experienced GMC Owners including those who
regularly work on other Coaches.

I hour drive in Canada gets you to see only a few people. You can drive 12
hours in Canada and see more deer or gophers than people.

This would be a once in a million opportunity for you.

By "it's an hours' drive away" I meant that it is ONLY an hours drive away.
Although, a one hour drive in Switzerland is reasonably far, since you can drive thru all of Switzerland in about 3 hours.
But of course, I'll gladly start my car to see you all.

I was very surprised to read about it. I just informed Grant, the Admin for the "GMC Motorhome UK" group, since he is geographically close.

DWAYNE, you mean the Musée Schlumpf (car museum) ? It is very nice, I definitely prefer it over world-famous Beaulieu museum in England.

So you people ship your coach in ?
I can't wait to meet you all. And see your coaches.

Domink

Dominic, we are not bringing our coaches, most of us are going on a river
cruise to Amsterdam. Some are going to Romania, then Copenhagen, then an
Atlantic crossing to New York. Sorry if I my comment came across as
disrespectful, I did not mean for it to be.

Not at all - I made it sound like it wasn't worth a one hour drive to me - but it was not my intention.
Five years ago I drove from Kejimkujik National Park in Nova Scotia to London, Ontario in 29 hours.
Last year after seeing two coaches that were beyond my capabilities, I traveled from Toronto to Vancouver Island in 5 or 6 days.

I planned to go to the Monteverdi Automobile club meeting with a friend who actually is in that club, but he is too busy at work before he goes to Florida.
He told me some people fly over their Monteverdies for a one day event and fly it back to the U.S. after that. So I thought some people may bring their coach
for a few days on European roads. But it sounds nice, too. Hope many go to see the Musée Schlumpf car museum. When I was there it was quiet and not crowded at all
I would go again in a heartbeat.

G'day,

I've read all the emails up to and including the one below and I thought I'd provide some additional details:

The cruise is from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam, The Netherlands and is run by Viking Cruises:

http://www.vikingrivercruises.com.au/cruise-destinations/europe/rhine-getaway/2015-basel-amsterdam/index.html

It leaves Basel on August 21st and arrives in Amsterdam on August 28th. I just called Viking Cruises here in Australia and was
advised that the cruise is COMPLETELY sold out!

There are 12 GMCers and their partners on the cruise. So far Dwayne Jacobson, Jim Hupy, Ken Henderson; and I have responded to this
email. There are eight more GMCer's on the cruise; however, I am not going to provide their names as they might not want me to do
so.

The cruise is being organized by Deo Trovao (Manny's wife).

I too visited the Schlumpf Brothers Museum years ago and when I saw that this cruise left from Basel, I suggested we tour the Cite
de la Automobile Museum (formerly the Schlumpf Brothers museum) in Mulhouse, France (30 minutes from Basel). Deo was kind enough to
organize it for us. The mini bus will leave the Marriott Courtyard Hotel at 9:00 am on the morning of Friday, August 21st. It will
return to the Viking Cruise dock at 1:00pm so the cruise participants can get on board.

The mini bus can carry 10 people and as of April 22nd there were 8 signed up leaving 2 openings. The cost of the tour is $800
divided by the number of participants. That includes the museum entry ticket and transport from the hotel to the museum and back to
the Viking Cruise dock.

Here's a link to the Cite de la Automobile's website: http://www.citedelautomobile.com/en

If you are interested in joining the tour to the Cite de la Automobile Museum here are Deo Trovao's email:

Rob, it seems the only chance I have to meet you all is if I come along to the Cité de l'Automobile museum.
I will travel in my minivan, since it would be impractical for me to be dropped off at the ferry port, and my vehicle still be at the hotel.

I do have two spare seats (this is how I got it...) Which would give the possibility to transport the two last people who otherwise
could not see the museum. If desired, I'd drive the detour to pick them up at the Courtyard Mariott and bring them to the dock you
specified after the exhibition.

Dominik,

Your offer to transport two people from the hotel to the museum and then to the dock is most generous. However, it seems you have
misunderstood my email. The minibus has ten seats, there are eight GMCer's signed up to take the tour of the Cite de la Automobile;
we don't need two more seats we need two more participants.

However, I agree it does not make sense for you to join our tour to the museum from a logistical or a financial standpoint as you
can drive there yourself and get in for the price of the ticket.

One other thing, while our group is touring the museum keep in mind that we'll be looking at some of the worlds most beautiful
automobiles ever built. I don't know how interested we'll be in talking about GMC's around those cars. As far as I'm concerned you
are more than welcome to join us but I hate for you to be disappointed or feel we treated you badly because the focus of our
discussions was the cars we were looking at and not GMC's.

Regards,
Rob M.

Ok, I'm not going to force myself upon anybody here.
My offer to take two people along to the museum was meant to be a nice gesture, but seems to be un-necessary. Ok, just wanted to be nice.

Whoever would like to meet me, please let me know when and where.
And we don't have to talk about GMCs if it is not desired.

Thank you for letting me know.
