Hi everyone. My name is Angus Watt and we have a '76 GMC Royale over here in the UK. We are working through all the problems now. So far we have re-built the motor, the brakes, the exhaust and re-fitted the bathroom.

Last week the transmission packed up. We only had 1st & 2nd gears so thats on the bench right now.

LPG question: Our coach came without the LPG tank and regulator. We have fitted a new tank but we don't know what the LPG pressure should be. WE are talking abou the pressure upstream of the regulator, the pressure that the appliances would see. Can anyone help please?

He's in Europe, probably scratching his head: "What are inches? What are ounces?"

11 inches of water is 2.74 kpa.

After 15 years in the US I'm starting to to get used to the funny units used here in the US (and I beleive in Sierra Leone)........I was lucky however
as metrification in the UK happened half way through my school years so I had vague memories of the things called ounces and inches.......however what really gets me
is a US pint only being 16 fluid ozs whilst a UK Pint was 20.......of course now its all Liters unless you buy a beer.....so even that knowledge is of fading use....

Nice to see someone in UK having a GMC.....but it must be an expensive beast to fill with petrol over there!

We only filled it once so far. It cost the equivalent of $370 - so about double the cost of filling up in the USA.

We reckon the gas regulator pressure, in a unit we can understand, is 28 millibar. This is equal to kilopascals/10.

Thanks for your help.

Update. Looks like our transmission is going to be OK. All the hard parts intact, just worn bands and age hardened seals. The gearbox shop got a bit of a shock when they saw the size of the casing but were relieved to find the TH internals were very familiar.

Yes that should be right. Standart gaspressure in europe is 30milibar. Older systems can be 50.
