Just wondering if anyone had modified their pork chops by cutting and welding them? I know there are adjustable ones available and different angled ones, but just wondered if anyone had tried this approach. Just trying to figure an inexpensive way to lower the coach with the new stiffer bars.

Hal, when the coaches were new, there was available 3 different porkchops.
The difference was in the index of the hex hole relative to the location of
the dimples for the adjusting bolt. If I am correct, and there will be
several on the net to correct me if i am not, the angles were 15, 19, and
23 degrees. Manny makes a replacement that is 30 degrees or 1/2 of a hex.
Surely one of the ones I mention could be used by how it was indexed with
the torsion bar. If not that, perhaps Manny could make a custom set for
your application. Worth a shot.

Hal,

When I had torsion bar troubles upon installation of my 1-Ton, I did some
research on pork chops. What I still know of it is shown here:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g5964-pork-chop-measurement.html

I now have no idea where I got the 16* pork chop, but I probably still have
it if you want to try it. I doubt that I have two though. It's purely
speculation on my part that it came from a Toronado.

Thank you gentlemen, that information is most appreciated. I have an extra set of pork chops I pulled from a Revcon that are the exact same ones now installed on the coach. I'll try to ID the angle to compare with the 16 degree ones Ken shows in the photo's. Looking at the installed ones makes me think a 30 degree change would be more than needed. I'll have to do a little more research on what I have now to determine which way to go.
Thanks again, Hal

Hal,

My coach was about 2" low and had longer adjuster bolts. THe pork chop was hitting the top of the crossmember. I got a set of Manny's pork chops... I don't know what the degree was... and new standard bolts. When I let the coach down it was still low and I ended up having to use long adjusters bolts even with Manny's modified pork chop. So, the 30*, if that is what they are, did not make a unworkable amount of difference.

The good news is the coach now sits at the right height and has for a year.

Hal,

They are castings or forging, I don't know if they are iron or steel.
