Thank you, Hal, I have an excellent pressure bleeder but want to know what size block is recommended when bleeding the brakes without a pressure bleeder.

For a pressure bleeder check with Jim Hupy. He makes a very nice one.

When bleeding the brakes the old way, without a pressure bleeder, I understand it is best to put a block of wood under the pedal so you won't push down too far and damage a seal in the master cylinder. I believe Emery posted something about this several years ago. What size block of wood should be used (2 X 4, 1 X 2, etc.)? You guys can probably guess why I'm asking. Appreciate your answers.
