I have a 6000 KW generator. I was running the generator for about an hour when it just stopped. I tried to restart and it would start then when I released the start button it stopped.
If I hold the primer button in it continues to run, release the primer button it stops. The fuel pump runs fine when I engage the primer button. The circuit board is only a year old. The gas tanks are full and so is the oil. Could it be the oil pressure switch and is there a way to test the switch.

Search the forum for Onan, or have a look at the manual. Do you have a multimeter, and can you use it? There's not a lot of magic in the electrical part of the Onan engines.

You can test the Onan oil pressure switch by simply unplugging it. If it stays running then you have no oil pressure or a bad oil pressure sending unit. Do not leave it running with the switch unplugged in case the problem is no oil pressure.

Bob,
By your message count, you are new here.
Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum.
There is a wealth of information on the GMC file site.
One of those is at http://www.bdub.net/oddsnends.html. There is the Duane Simmons write up on how the control board works and how to test it. This could save you hours of work. A well behaved (not hard to do) Onan is a wonderful thing.
Before long, please build a sigfile (like below) with your real name (sowe know who you are when we meet - and we probably will), a short bit about your coach and its major mods (so we know what we are dealing with here), and a geographic reference (so we can bet if it is fuel line freeze up or vapor lock). This will help us to help you.
Now that you are here, you are part of a community that is like few others. This is a big group of helping and caring people. It is so like the watermen of my world that I have taken to welcoming new people as a new owner or vessel would be welcomed there. So,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that setforth within her.
Welcome Bob.
