This was floating around facebook but I found it here:

Be sure and scroll down to see the dash cam video of the 18 wheeler that he was blowing past when his left front tire blew out. You can see the blown tire in the first photo where it is on its side.
Scary wreck...he was going too fast imo. It's lucky he did not hit anything in the oncoming lane.
I see these folks in diesel pushers just flying down the road and have often wondered how many of them have any idea how to react in an emergency. When I was a stupid kid in high school, I was asked to drive a school bus. I also drove to a junior college the following couple years. About 100,000 miles in all with up to 60 kids on the bus. (I'm still amazed that I never had a wreck...) Sometime during period, they had a seminar on how to handle blowouts. I never had one and can't say I would handle it correctly but at least I understand what should be done.
Anyway, here is an interesting video on what to do if you have a blowout.

He probably would have been OK, but the cable barriers are not designed for a vehicle that large and ultimately caused it to roll onto its side. It appears he handled it correctly by NOT hitting the brakes - until he got all hung up in the cable barriers and they exerted a force on the chassis causing the MH to change direction, which he had to try to compensate for.

It's amazing how many on-road mechanical failures are mitigated by the advice my father gave me years ago. Take your foot off the gas, don't hit the brakes, if you lose control turn the wheel with the car, don't fight a spin, downshift when possible.
I've used some or all of these procedures over the years for varying problems from blowouts to traction and control problems from ice. It doesn't always work, but it's never made it worse. Thanks Dad.

Although it is counter intuitive, it is better to gently get on the gas if a front tire blows.
