Greetings! Been following the board for over a year and finally have a motorhome parked in the driveway. Its in very good shape, based on the dozen or so I looked at in the area. Going to start going thru it top to bottom, and wheels and tires are on the top of the list since the driver rearmost tire blew less than a mike from home. Was able to slowly limp it home, thankfully with minimal damage.
Going to be picking up an set of Alcoa wheels from a fellow is scrapping his coach, it is a bit of a drive so I want to make sure I've got all the tools needed. I have a 1 1/16" socket, but wondering what type of tool is needed to remove the lug but covers? I've seen Alcoa 000600 as a but cover wrench for hug-a-lugs, but think it might be for 33mm caps.
Anybody have the part number of the tool and good spo ts to buy?
Also, big thanks to Bob Dunahugh for all his help and guidance thru the process!

Welcome aboard.
JimK sells a lug nut cover puller. The Alcoa covers are plastic with spring loaded retainers.

I imagine you might find similar removers at a big truck stop where they sell various wheel accessories.

Matt,
Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum.
I can't help with the Alcoa question at all, but I am glad you have been reading this board and have already made so friends. You think we are something now, wait until you get to a rally. You will find that there are many others as crazy (smart) as you.
As you have been reading this board a while, you probably already realize that this is a very special group. The only other like it that I know is that of the watermen that are my world. Helping other always comes first and you will soon feel at home here. It is so like my own world that I have taken to welcoming new owners as a new owner or vessel would be welcomed there. So,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.
Welcome Matt and Family.

I got the tool from Jim K and it works great. The Alcoa lug nut covers also come in stainless steel. Best to check with a magnet as there are fakes out there.

If the Alcoa plastic lug nut covers fit properly pulling them off with your fingers should be difficult. If you're able to pull them
off with your fingers easily the springs that hold them on are weak.

Matt,
I have the plastic lug nut covers on two different sets of Alcoas. I just grab them with my fingers and pull them off. No tool
needed.

I'd be willing to bet Hal is strong enough to unscrew those pesky jar and bottle lids with his bare hands too that appear to have been installed with a pipe wrench at the supermarket.

Hello Hal welcome aboard,
I felt like I was reading my own post. I will be picking my coach next month and driving it from New England to Florida. Most say I should trans port it, but I weighed in on the side of adventure in stead. New tires first as well, before the trip.

Matt, now that you've got your 'new' GMC, how about going to the Registry web site, and send me the info on it. It just might be a new listing, or it may already be in the data base.
Here's the link - go to the online form tab:
