I am doing well. As most of you know my cancer is in complete remission. I
have completed all of my tests in preparation for open heart surgery to
replace my entire aorta arch. The aneurism was at 5.5 CM in diameter when
last checked. At 6 CM the doctors get REAL excited.

I may not have told you about the problem during my last double heart cath.
The cathiter entering through my neck touched an area in my heart which put
it out of rhythm. It stopped pumping for about 20 seconds. I was awake, and
knew something was not right when the tech monitoring my vitals shouted
"get a wire in".

They inserted a wire, induced an electrical signal to correct the problem.
(Similar to a pace maker). They had to leave the sheath and wire in my neck
for several hours in case it happened again. There was a huge bandage on my
neck with a wire protruding. Mary's eyes got pretty large when she saw me
being wheeled back into my room. She said that I looked like Frankenstein.

All went well so they sent me home. I had another cath through my groin on
April 14th. to verify that a stent should be installed. They checked
pressure before and after the blockage with a transducer. This verified a
partial blockage, so a stent was installed. My surgeon is very thorough,
and keeps saying that he does not want any surprises when he opens me up.
(my kind of guy)

Some of my restrictions have been lifted, and I am starting to work in the
shop again. Keeping busy keeps me from thinking about the surgery, and
makes the time pass quicker.

Mary and I still plan to attend the fall convention. It will be good to see
our "second family" again.

Dave & Mary
