Netters
For some of you this is an easy question .... for me, not so much!
I keep getting pieces of incoming mail ending up in my Spam folder. It
comes from random GMC people sending to the GMCnet and instead of going to
my Inbox, it ends up in my Spam department.
Any suggestions??

Mike,
I've been getting the same thing for the past week or so -- "It is in
violation of Google's recommended email sender guidelines."
Which are too complex for me to understand.

Email being placed in your SPAM/Junk box is either be done by your email provider (Gmail in your case) or by your email client. You should not really have more than one filter running - it's easier to manage Spam if there is a single system to configure/troubleshoot. Given that, you may want to consider disabling Spam filtering in your client (if not already done).
Virtually all Spam filters can be "trained". In order to train Gmail - you can either hit the "not spam" (or remove the Spam tag) button in the web interface, or move the email from the Spam/Junk back to the Inbox when using IMAP. If you are using POP - you must us e the webmail interface to mark/clear spam. In a POP environment (does anybody still POP email?!? Come on - it's 2015!) - moving the the email makes no difference to Gmail's Spam filter and won't train Gmail.
If that's too technical for you - that's OK, because it probably won't work reliably anyways... You will still get Ham in the Spam. And on Gmail, you can't fully disable the Spam filter...
So... What I do on Gmail accounts, is to add a rule that doesn't allow Gmail to move the email, regardless of the Spam calculation. Follow these steps in the Gmail web interface:
Click the gear in the upper right hand corner and then… (this is a new step due to Gmail interface changes)
Go into “Settings”, and then pick the tab “Filters”.
At the bottom, pick “Create New Filter”
In the resulting popup, place this text (without the quotes) “is:spam” into the “Has the Words” box, and click “Create filter with this search”.
Gmail will complain about this, saying “giving you a popup that says “Filter searches containing…..are not recommended as they will never match incoming email.”. IGNORE THAT. Just press OK.
Tick the check mark that says “Never send it to Spam”, and then click “Create Filter”.

This forces Gmail to keep all email in the Inbox - essentially disabling their Spam filter.
Not on Gmail? Well - that depends on the ISP/email provider. They are all different - but most will allow you to disable Spam filtering - if you configure the system correctly. The filtering on the GMCnet list is pretty good due to the RBL stuff I added. Unfortunately, it means that Patrick and Billy (and occasionally me!) have to clean up the Spam filtering on the server.

This is too much like my day job. I'm going back to repairing my bathroom fan motor controller... A shorted flyback diode made the voltage regulator burn red hot! Hot enough that it actually melted the solder and slid out! I've never seen that before...
