Really easy to accomplish the objective of keeping gas off the body by buying gas mats (a special form of quilted paper towel made for sopping up gas spills) from places like NAPA. This is the same stuff you see in use at most Costco gas stations. Wrap it around the nozzle while filling and it will catch most spills. At some Costco stations they will even give you one if you ask for it. I keep one inside the fuel filler door and spares elsewhere.
