Hmmmm. Strange things are happening. The day before we got to Emerald
Desert, I used Mickey D's WI-FI facilities. Worked fine. Didn't need the
ALFA at the campground, so I didn't try it, until someone mentioned that
theirs didn't work there. Tried mine...it didn't work either. After we
left the park, I tried to get my email, and noticed that the ALFA icon
was missing. I had to re-install the drivers before it worked.
Fortunately, I had the software on my HD. Virus, bug, aliens???

Windows sometimes seems to forget what is attached to the various ports. If you change the USB port, after installing and using the Alfa (not brand specific)on one port to another port, Windows may not know where to find the Alfa.
Nice thing is the large amount of ports, under USB, for devices.
Window thinks my WiFi adapter is on port 8.
Re-installation of the software is probably the easiest solution, unless you like digging in Windows.

wifi at the rally sucked
- 1 hr free
- had to call tech support for more time
- bovee and i had to buy a 5 day permit
- cost us $20 each so we could run the tech sessions
- got some BS from the tech guy about a tech problem
- tech problems do not last for months
