Just a quick report back on the installation of the atwood Air Command 15.5k unit. I am so far very happy with it, and will have to get some use out of it this summer for sure.

For those that did not follow before, I have been looking at A/C units, and decided on this unit because it was advertised as the quietest and most efficient. I have talked to a couple others that said they loved theirs, and I see them on some new SOB's. The price also was a major factor.

my coach has two A/C units on it. and my rear one quit blowing cold air. So i moved the front A/C unit to the rear, and installed the new Atwood up front. Now I have two working A/C units, and both run easily at the same time on my 6000 onan.

I am happy to report, that installation was not too difficult. and that it is way quiet in my book, but I am going from an original super loud high electrical load A/C.

I tried to test it with my kilowatt meter, but I could not tell what readings it was giving me. my Ipod showed db of 80 just below the original running in the back bedroom. and the atwood is running at 70 db in the front area. That is like 10" below the A/C.

It is a little busy with fan speed changing on the auto setting. But pretty normal on the set fan speed. outside fan does kick in and change speed a little, so when outside you hear that change.

I do plan on testing it on a 2000 watt honda soon, but just from my first impression, I can tell it is pretty easy on the power. max amps on the spec sheet is at 13 amps. you do not hear or see that first start up kick... the onan rpms does not falter at all with it coming on and cycling at all.

I posted some pictures on my blog again.

Jon - came across your blog on the FB link. Great job on the install and thanks for documenting with the pictures. The app you used to measure the decibels is very cool, I'm going to have to look that one up!

Have some crews in the area. javascript:%20insertTag(document.post_form.msg_body,%20'',%20'%20:(%20'); we have an office in Marion.

Midwest Classics, has a rally in Faribault, MN June 4-7. 4 hours north, there will be a gathering of coaches you could check out to help you in your hunt.
