Others have reported great success with Polyarmour. It is corrosion resistant and easily bendable. I believe it’s widely available, Napa, and so on.

There is no one size fits all. Too many variations to list with different electric pumps, flex vs. steel hoses etc. etc. Classic Tube listed a SS replacement for the factory steel line in the front clip. They advertised a different diameter and wouldn't send a pic so I didn't buy. Made my own with PolyArmour.

Tony,

They're ALL rusty!

In my opinion if they are not leaking don't fix them.

3/8" OD tranny lines are available from:

http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/717

Stainless Steel tranny lines are available from:

http://www.grandviewmotorhome.com/index.html

Note that Tom does not list the SS tranny lines on his website, however, I am pretty sure he has them. Give him a call and tell him
I sent you. If I'm incorrect let us know.

Regards,
Rob M.

Yes i looked into Tom and he doesn't ship the Tranny lines . I am in the middle of replacing all of my rusty brake lines with SS from Classic Tube and BTW i did run into a snag with them the drivers side rear line going into the wheel well area too short so i sent that one back with my original hopefully they correct that one. But since i did go with the " if it aint broke " theory and had total catastrophic brake failure when the rusty brake lines popped and metering valve was apparently not working the fronts i figured maybe replace rusty hard fuel line and Tranny line's just a thought Lol!

Tony,

In your message you only mentioned the fuel lines and transmission lines you did not mention the brake lines. THERE IS NO WAY I
WOULD SUGGEST ANYONE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY HAD A FAILURE OF RUSTY BRAKE LINES TO REPLACE THEM!

As a matter of fact when I bought Double Trouble Ken Frey checked the brake lines and replaced sections that were rusted before I
picked it up.

At the end of our tour that year I drove over to the Coop and completely rebuilt the brake system with:

1) Sensitized booster from JimB
2) Brass combination valve
3) Stainless steel brake lines from Classic tube (I had the same problem you did which is why is direct people to Tom)
4) New disks and rebuilt 80 mm calipers on the front wheels
5) Rebuilt 80 mm calipers on the middle wheels
6) Rebuilt wheel cylinders on the rear wheels
7) Carbon metallic pads and shoes

The P-3 master cylinder had been replaced when it failed (through no fault of Ken) halfway through our tour.

I hear ya just thought i would share in case someone is on the fence about brake lines. I to scabbed in a few hard lines that were what i thought then to be a problem but now knowing what i know if there is one bad line then safe to say all are bad and change them no disrespect just wanted to throw that out there. Thanks Robert all the info you guys give is very much appreciated. Tony

Tony,

I took no offense taken.

I SHOUTED because as I wanted to make it abundantly clear that far as I'm concerned the brake system is the MOST important system on
a GMC, followed by the steering, suspension, and drive train.

That's the rebuild sequence I followed on Double Trouble and The Blue Streak.

I got my stainless transmission lines from JimK. My only complaint is that he decided to set up shop on the other coast. UPS loves me.

I thought my hard brakes lines were fine. I rubbed the dirt off one when cleaning up frame while the fuel tanks were out. It started weeping...then I started weeping.

I used polyarmor. Shopping list here:

I used Cunifer (copper nickel)brake tubing when I built my Ginetta G30 back in the late 80s in the UK. I found it really easy to work with and it gave me no problem in the 10 years I owned the car.
Comes in nice long rolls, bends fairly easily and I found the flaring tool easy to use.

http://www.fedhillusa.com/

It was the #1 choice in the UK back then and seems to be available in the US in the sizes needed.
