You might want to join a Credit Union and then apply for a loan. They are usually easier on vehicle age.
They should be able to tell you before you join.

JJ Best is classic car finance. They know everything older is better and way more valuable than ANYTHING made today.I mean would you rather pay $25000 for a 2015 camaro or $25000 on a 1968 Z-28.Most americans are ignorant and would buy the 2015.We know better so do they, call them...

Cheapest loan could be line of credit on your Home....if you own that is....

Use it to buy a GMC...at least then you have somewhere to live when they repo the house for not making your payments.......warning, CFO might not approve of this.

Anthony,

Sorry, NO SALE!

It would depend on what I was going to do with the vehicle, if it was to be a daily driver I would by the 2015, if it was to be a
Sunday cruiser I would by the 1968.

Why a new one or are you real wealthy? And can you afford a disposable car?The 68 is user serviceable and easily replaced inside and out.The new one will cost and cost when that service engine light comes on.If it gets in a crash it is totally gone.Quarters on a 68 are like $150.
I do not understand.Liability in the driveway or Asset? I have been driving my same car since 1979.Nothing compares...

Way Too Old...The proper frame really is 64-72 even though the coach goes to 78,I feel the classic finance guys go to 81 but better be a special 81.
That test is unfair with the old x frame cars.

Back to the question...

Someone in the past mentioned using a lending club.
You might also check with a local club to establish some references and then look for an owner willing to self finance.

X-frame or not - passenger safety is at an all time high right now. You may feel safer in an old car - but you most definitely are NOT.

I still know guys that think they're safer without a seatbelt. But that doesn't make it a fact...

If you need to finance the purchase price of a gmc I don't think you can
afford to own one cause just paying for the upkeep is a payment in itself.

Very scary for a vintage car driver. I have a 1978 VW Beetle convertible. Every time I drive it I can't help but wonder about how it would protect me in a crash. Not very well, except perhaps if I was hit by someone on a bicycle. Same goes for the motorhome. However, at least I am sitting above the engine and not behind it.

I have more exposure in the GMC to an accident (~10,000 miles a year) vs the less than ~ 400 miles in the VW. The good thing is that I drive more modern (hopefully safer in a crash) cars ~30,000 miles a year.

I've spent several times over the purchase price on my GMC for maintenance and upgrades over the past 17 years. Same goes for my house that I've owned since 1978.

The last time I drove a VW van (Type 2) - I was thinking about how little there was between my knees and the front of the vehicle... At least in a Beetle you had trunk, a spare tire and a gas tank(!!) to slow the bicycle down!

I side with Sully et al. The idea of making a note to buy a toy, particularly a toy which is expensive to keep running, is why I was in my 60s before I bought an RV. Kida re out, mortgage is paid, I can indulge myself. If you're in a more lucrative field than I (certainly not hard to be!) you can indulge yourself sooner.
I don't wanna pee on your parade - but I hate to see a coach just sit because the owner can't afford to keep it rolling either.

Rabbie,

Back to the loan. I ended up with a personal loan with a fair interest rate from our credit union. Check out your local credit unions and see what they can do for you if feel a loan is the right thing for your personal situation.

We felt we could manage it and pay it off in a year or two. Unfortunately other situations came up after the loan which will extend payment of the loan another year or two. The RV will be sitting until I can take care of redoing the brakes.

The only thing I would change is that I would have asked for someone more experienced to go with me to look at the coach before I purchased.

Good luck with your decision.

...or find owner financing.

I have a couple of old cars that scare me to death. My '48 Buick Convertible is a death trap. No seat belts. Terrible brakes. I just drive it because it is fun and I am old.

I drive a '96 Fleetwood Brougham Cadillac as my daily driver. Beautiful car, tip top shape but again, much less safe than a newer one.

I put my "feet in the GMC and my trust in the Lord" every time I get in the motor home. Again, it's fun and I've lived a good life. I just hope I don't take anyone out when I finally have the "big one."

My '14 CRV is like driving a buckboard and is usually the last car chosen for a trip. It is no fun under any circumstances.

Under the right circumstances I'd probably consider financing mine if I could find something I liked better.
