From the discussion on another thread about buying Duracool (yet another dash AC question) Rob M. pointed out he could get Frosty Cool cheaper than Duracool. I put in a mock order for Frosty Cool but did not finish the financial transaction and also did not delete the order. I have received an email from frosty Cool stating the following.

Per Frosty Cool website:
FrostyCool 134 Replacement Refrigerant is a blend of environmentally safe
hydrocarbon refrigerants designed as a replacement for R-134a and
retrofitted CFC-R12 systems. FrostyCool 134 can be used to replace HCF
R-134a and CFC-R12 substitute refrigerants in mobile air conditioning and
refrigeration units.
FrostyCool 134a operates at lower head pressures and offers colder air and
improved performance compared to HFC-R134a. FrostyCool 134 will extend the
life of a system because of the lower head pressures. FrostyCool 134
Replacement Refrigerant requires approximately 1/3 the amount of the
original charge in the system and must be charged as a liquid.

Duracool sells their own brand of sealant. Check Worthingtonagparts.com
Frankly, I wouldn't worry about using off the shelf sealant meant for 134 from Walmart

I agree Emery, but I've had three different guys looking for my dash leak.
All have a theory and none can take their detector and show me the leak.
I'll give it another 'go' later in the Spring with a different A/C 'expert'
.

Long before Duracool became a good alternative, the issue was all about converting from R12 to R134. At the time, the hysteria included replacing all hoses, all seals, and all oil at a minimum with many here advocating replacement of receiver driers and even compressors. At the time most kits offered fittings and compatible oil.I purchased conversion kits from the likes of Autozone and converted not only my GMC but the classic cars I had that had AC. Doom and gloom was hovering over my head, but by pure luck apparently my systems all continued to function perfectly. I did find that on the GMC I had to add a can of R134 once or twice a year. I decided to add a can of stop leak and I never needed to add a can for years. When I learned about Duracool here, I let my system bleed down and added Duracool. It took me a bit to get the fill right, but it now works even better. All in all I have ignored all of the compatibility and doom and gloom predictions and have a had a great system operation for at least 15 years. I think most people will agree that almost all of the hypothetical concerns never played out.
