A neighbor came over today. As I had the GMC out of my garage. He mentioned that he was trading in his Diesel Pusher. As it was 10 years old with 65,000 miles on it. So he didn't trust it anymore. And the cost of maintaining it was out of control. Then he asked what year the GMC was. And how many miles. I told him it was a 78 with 150,000 miles on it. Then he asked how many times I've been stranded. Never. I find it amazing how dependable. And the low cost of keeping these things on the road. What a way to travel.Bob Dunahugh. Member GMCMI.

I do (with friend's help) lots of things: all disk brakes and all the related goodies, EFI, front end rebuild, Parking Brake assist, wheels and tires, propane for Onan, on demand water heater, etc.. I have also had engine, trans, FinalDrive, extra evaporator, so-so paint, new refrigerator, screen door and I am sure other things done by service shops. I am at about $55,000 including the original $9K in Jan 2009. (It is probably more but I do try to keep track of the big things... not maintenance like alternator, etc.)
We have gone about 50 K miles so it is costing about a buck 10 per mile. (of course that does not count fuel, and the fact that I shove oil in it as if it had a hole in the pan- and no it is not leaking)
Went to Manny's once on a lowboy. (You probably shouldn't try to go to a church camp in the mountains after you have trans trouble and have told Manny to get one ready.) Other than that, we have always arrived under our own power. Knocking on wood!
I am thinking that the pusher cannot compete/mile, plus we love our GMC. Especially the windows. What is up with the tiny windows on the big coaches?
Every time we go out to do some cleaning or some in-coach project we get the urge to go.
