Hi Armand,

I had already contacted JimK to see if there is any difference in the diameter of the thermostat by pass in the new aluminum housing he sells from the stock cast iron unit. No response back from him yet. I got one off line suggestion to check the thermostats as some of the RS and Mr. Gasket units have bypass holes and some do not. I have found that the Clasco heater hoses run the opposite of what they are in the Royale. In the Clasco it goes water pump to left side of heater. The right side of the heater goes to the heater control and then to the rear of the intake manifold. On the Royale the water pump heater outlet goes through the heater control to the right side of the heater core. The left side goes to the rear of the intake manifold. So far I can't see what difference it would make, but maybe????

I also thought the more air coming through the radiator the lower the temp the fan clutch would see so it would come on less. What I am experiencing is quite the opposite. The fan clutch is locking up seemingly at around 2000 RPMs in spite of air or water temp which is what is leading me to think drag via the plastic fan is heating up the clutch and keeping it locked on but that is a WAG.

Jerry, maybe someone will chime in here but I think there is a small bypass that is standard and built into the thermostat housing. If so, maybe yours
is too large? I would think that the more air that enters the engine compartment through the radiator the cooler the fan clutch sensor would be and
the less it would engage.
