It seems that after sitting for a long while I fired up the furnace to blow out the dust and it seems to work very well. However after using it a few days ago - before this odd 70 degree weather appeared - there is black soot on the outside exhaust of the coach. Time to clean the burners?

I believe I'd look for something impeding the burner airflow. Cobwebs in the air slide, etc. Soot indicates a rich propane/air mixture. Doesn't take much to imbalance it.

Its rich. Likely an obstruction, Mud wasps and spiders are the usual suspects.

Does your furnace have a sight glass?

My coach has a Suburban furnace and when I take off the cover I do see a sight glass. What should I look for?

It’s a Suburban NT30M. It’s a 30k BTU (input) 24k BTU (output) furnace. I believe it was installed by my beloved PO.

The flame should be a nice blue and even on the burner slits. Sometimes rust will obstruct them.
A bad blockage may nessesitate furnace removal to clean it out
