Since I've been running serpentine belts for about 10 years now, I don't
generally participate in the V-belt discussions. However, today I received
a sale announcement from what I've found to be an excellent source for my
other V-belt needs. Some of you may find it useful. In addition to the
15xyz style belts specified for the GMC, they also carry a complete line of
4Lxyz and 17xyz belts, many of them Kevlar reinforced. If I were having
V-belt problems on a GMC, I'd be inclined to try using the wider 4Lxyz
(4/8") or 17xyz (17/32") belts in those old worn grooves.

Their prices are very good. On the automotive page is shown a link to
applications (not for the GMC, of course).

I bought for a 455 when Rob posted about vbeltsupply last year. I haven't had reason to install any yet, but they passed the wrench test.

RC,

The ones I bought are still sitting on a shelf in Houston and I never got around to doing the wrench test but I vaguely remember
comparing them to the Duralast and some other brand I have as spares and noted they looked a hell of a lot better. I also took one
and wrapped it around the crankshaft pulley I have spare and noted it sat up high in the V notch with plenty of clearance from the
bottom of the notch.

Regards,
Rob M.

I installed the belts last may on a rebuild and haven't had any issues
since. Approximately 3500 miles on belts.
