Just wanted to share what we found for re-anchoring our seats in our coach. Most of the original wood bolts had become stripped and were no longer holding down part of our seats that should be anchored to the floor. I discovered EZ-lok inserts, which anchor to the wood, and then bolts thread in to the inserts. Looks like they are commonly used on furniture and are supposed to hold up well over time. We ended up drilling out the existing holes slightly, putting JB Weld on the EZ-lok inserts and screwing them in to place with a large hex wrench so that the top of the insert is flush with the top of the plywood. We gave the JB Weld a week to set up completely then bolted down the seats using new 5/16" bolts. We ended up using the EZ-Lok 5/16-18 inserts, a 25-pack on Ebay goes for around $9. They're the perfect size for the 3/4" plywood floor.

Pics of the hardware is here for better illustration:

Hope this helps others that may run in to this issue.

Chris,

GREAT find! BTW you can use the flanged type if the screws that hold the large rear panel with the rear window in strip out.

According to Parts Book 78Z / Section 23 - Body / Page 23-4 / Figure 23.010 Rear Cap, Pillar and Panel / Key - None / Part Number
722427 / Screw - rear access panel to RH & LH pillar & roof cap (1/4" shank) (hi-lo)

I have NO idea what (hi-lo) means!

Check here for hi-Lo screws

http://www.shakeproof.com/products/threaded/hi-lo.html

They have a double thread -- one higher than the other and are designed to hold better in soft material such as plastics and particle board.

Chris,
Good solution. Just what I needed. I had removed one side of my dinette and found that the wood was stripped where the lag bolts/screws had been. I will give it a try. Based on my GMC to do list I should be able to get to it by mid 2018.

I am pretty sure that the screws that hold the lenses for the outside orange and red running lights (on the roof) use these type of screws. Thanks for the info, I was wondering what they were called.

Chris,

The running lights on the roof use rivet nuts:

Unfortunately quite often the screws that retain the lights are rusted solid in the rivet nuts and the rivet nuts will spin in the
plastic. To replace them you can use these:

Thanks Rob! Yes I knew about those things as we had the pleasure of replacing a few already Smile I meant the screws that hold the plastic lens to the metal housing. We had a heck of a time on some of them, using new screws and getting the screws to bite so that the plastic lenses don't pop off. The original screws looked exactly like those hi-lo ones. Now I know what to get.

Best,

Espen,

Are you talking about the cockpit seats or the couch?

Aha, cockpit..

The dinette and bunk bed where just attached with regular screws, all of them rusted out, but I guess it is differences when GMC started to use flexisteel.

My floor is an 1" thick and the only items that has a good anchor point is the seat belts. I will use stainless screws on my interior when it goes back in
