There is some type of capacitor or condenser connected to one side of the Onan coil. I could not find a great picture of one, but on the photo site, some seem to have it but some don't. What does it do? Are they necessary to run? Looks like the condenser used with points but at least double the size. Just a single wire connected to one side of the coil.

I am a bookkeeper, not an electrition.
