Some of my friends know that I have been having back problems for the last three months or so and its getting worse every week.

X-rays and an MRI show damage to 4 vertebrae in my lumbar (lower back) region. Probably caused by arthritis.

Lying down relieves the pain so I've been spending a lot of time in bed including meals in bed.

When I stand or try to walk I get severe pain in the lower back and pain shooting down the back of my thighs. Right now it's hard to walk the 20 feet from my bed to the bathroom.

Nerves are being pinched. At noon today they will do steroid injections into my spine and more will be done on 1/27. Hopefully this will relieve swelling. If it doesn't work then spinal surgery with fusing of vertebrae will be next.

I owe some people responses to emails but I've been falling behind lately. Hopefully I'll start feeling better in the coming weeks.

No need to clutter the net with responses to this. I know that there is a lot of sympathy out there among my friends. Hopefully I'll see many of you at the next GMCMI convention in Patterson, LA in March.
