Does anyone have a pictures showing the different sized LPG tanks, or
the outside dimensions of each of the two sizes?

Thanks.

I think the only difference is the lenght of the tank, std 42.5lb is 30" and the optional 62lb is 40"

The tanks changed slightly somewhere around 75 or 76. My 78 tank developed a leak and when I replaced it with one from an earlier year, I had to make modifications to make it fit. I think they were both 62lb models. If you need more info I can make measurements and/or take some pictures.

Peer,

The Blue Streaks PO removed the OEM LPG tank and installed two small BBQ bottles; I reworked the LPG compartment to hold two large
BBQ bottles.

I am very busy with other projects at the moment when I get some time I'll post photos of that project.

This is how mine is set up. There is mounting for two standard 40lb propane tanks.

I like the idea that a couple of people chose to implement with the BBQ
bottles. Makes it probably much easier to fill-up.

Peer,

You are correct; however, it is a rather big project as you have to remove the floor in the LPG compartment to lower it so the BBQ
bottles will fit. Also I had to cut a bit off the bottom ring to shorten the bottles as well.

I have a series of photos but they're not complete, I'll try and take a few of the finished project next week and post them.

In Norway (and the rest of Europe I think) we also have small 5Kg (11lbs or so) bottles, I used a pair of them in DT, kind of a direct fit with room to spare, and we did not even use one bottle on our 2 weeks vacation.
