Greetings and Happy New Year !!

Might anyone have a photo of their installation of a Guske door shade ??

And how wide is it ??

I purchased one and it doesn't seem to fit. Margaret Guske keeps making reference to a door molding that my coach doesn't seem to have...

I'm hoping that it fits "inside" the window frame (right next to the glass) so that I can eliminate the valance on the door.

Thanks in advance !

Steve,

The Guske shade on my door (also a 73-23) has two brackets that stand it in from the door molding by a very small amount.
It is not inside the window frame. When the door is closed, the inner surface of the curtain is about and inch and an half into the interior. Because of this, I had to take some tucks in the flexible screen door.

I can take pictures, but it will be later tomorrow.

We don't have valances so I can't answer you on that.

Thanks Matt !!

The width dimension would be very helpful and a picture or two would be fantastic...

Perhaps mine got cut too wide.

Matt,

My wife wanted one of the Guske cellular shades for our door. Since we have
a Birch screen,
it had to fit flush. Marge got tired of asking me at every rally if I had
gotten it installed,
so one day she sent husband Ken over with his tools and he put it in. Kara
wanted it installed
upside down, so we could leave it down a little and still have privacy.
Anyone tall
enough to look in the top of the window will find a round 45 caliber eye
looking back.
Tom Hampton put the ceiling in our coach, so I had him make the surround
panel. JWID

Steve,
I just talked to Margaret this morning, we have been friends a lot of years, and wished her and Ken a Happy New Year! I have not yet installed mine yet as I need to replace the door window with a solid glass type that I have.

What kind of window do you have in your door? There are 4 that have been used. Number 1 is the solid window with no moving parts, window number 2 is the one that lifts up from the bottom or the top if installed that way, number 3 is the newer windows that have been a replacement for the stock window for a number of years and number 4 is the frameless style window.

You should have received a 24 X 36 Micro night shade. The actual dimension are somewhat different, the top and bottom rails are 16” wide with the middle fabric area is 22 1/2 inches wide, it is 5/8 inch thick. It is design to fix inside the window frame and work with window number 1 best. It will work with window number 2 and must be mounted for clearance of the sliding window frame, it should clear number 3 and would have to open from bottom to top and I have never seen window number 4 in person. It screws to the top and bottom inside of the window frame and as Gary has said it can be installed either way.

The valance for window number 1 can be very simple and other depending on clearance.

Steve, Matt
I have installed my shades, both on the door and the window behind the
sink in my 26' coach, fully recessed into the window frame. They are
both non opening windows, this may make a difference. The brackets, both
top and bottom fit within the window frame. I cut the shade material on
all 4 corners so it would fit. They do not interfere with my " Alex
Birch" screen door. I can install the paneling around the windows as a
valance. No need to have it stick into the interior of the coach. I do
not have any pictures, the coach is in storage behind a welding shop
here in the city.

Thank you Matt, Gary, JR, and Gary !!

Happy New Year from Southern California.

JR - I've got window style number 1. Non opening and with a frame... And the dimensions of the shade that I received are precisely what you called out.

But perhaps I've got a smaller window in my 23' coach ?? Inside frame width is 21.5"

I guess I'll get courageous and cut the shade down to size, including some radius at the corners. Any tips for ensuring a straight cut ??

Thanks again,

Steve,
I tape up the blind tight and cut it on a table saw, just use a new or good blade. You want a precise cut by taking 5/16 inch off each side.

Steve,
When I cut mine to fit inside the window frame, I clamped two short pieces of Oak to the closed blind so that the saw blade would not shred out the blind either on the entry to the blade or when it left the blade finishing the cut. Just clamped it tight with a short bar clamp, clamped it to the miter gauge, and using a sharp carbide 80 tooth blade ran it through slow. Came out as a good clean cut. JFWIW

Steve,

There are now in my dropbox, a collection of pictures of our door curtain as installed.
This is a link to the album.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zfasulwk5znbqtg/AADi4WPX1f3OpHkhJRtSYkfka?dl=0

The curtain as supplied would not fit inside the window, but I could be cut down - I suppose.

I hope this is a help.

Matt
