Not only did I remember to put some in, I put the antifreeze in too. Why waste just plain water when you can waste $20 of antifreeze and poison every cat in the neighborhood too. Fortunately it's raining so it all got washed away.

Look at the bright side, at least you didn't re-use the Oem long, pointy, self-tapping, mounting bolts when re-installing the condenser mount, after installing the wider than stock new aluminum radiator... Shocked

Yep. "wow, those threads must really be buggered at the top....just keep tightening......oh fudge"

76 Birchaven - "Wicked Mistress" - New engine, trans, alum radiator, brakes, Sully airbags, fuel lines, seats, adult beverage center... those Coachmen guys were really thinking about us second hand owners by including that beverage center... Columbia, SC.

I now believe that the shop that replaced my belts and hoses (after my engine shed ALL its belts on the way home from the Shawnee convention, overheated, and went to bad knocking) failed to tighten the clamps sufficiently. This apparently caused a slow, but undetected leak that cause a similar overheating and MAY have ruined the engine 50 miles from home on our attempt to make the Dothan convention!

D'oh!

I have gotten two habits when working on cooling systems.

First I pressure check the system with air. (When I install the motor in my Sidekick Towd, I had a tight but poorly positioned hose clamp.... it popped off with 15 psi behind it. Sacred the hell out of me!)

Second I fill with water and drive it a bit. Helps flush they system anyway. When the system is "proven," I then drain and add antifreeze.

Some would say the issue with the cats was an added benefit. When a non-cat loving friend was asked "How long do cats live?" His reply was "Too long." Twisted Evil
