You get so you can't smell it. In the house, we have a fair amount of juniper (Atlantic White Cedar). Even after 25 years, newcomers rave over the aroma, but we have to be away for a couple of weeks to even get a whiff of it now and that only lasts for a few minutes. Funny how that works.

I know what you mean. As a Chemical Engineer we call them a Chemical Plant rather than a factory. I was once assigned to a unit which made mercaptan and C8 - C10 fatty acids. These smell so badly that when I got home the first day my wife actually threw up. She made me take off my clothes on the back porch.
The chemicals permeated my clothing, my hair and probably my skin.
When entering the area you can smell it for about 15 minutes but you get used to the smell quickly but when you leave the area everyone else can smell you. Fortunately I was only assigned there for 6 weeks.
That was at Hercules Chemical in Louisiana, MO where I spent the summer between my Jr. And Sr years.
