In spite of my Navy training and experience, when Billy Massey asked for
volunteers to help update the Black List, I sent him an email offering my
services. Yes, I volunteered. I know, I know.

Billy promptly sent me an Excel file of people within my "sector" to
contact. I dreaded making all of those phone calls and dragging the required
info out of those that I could reach. My trepidation of the task at hand was
completely unfounded! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and having the
excuse to "talk GMC" with some truly experienced people. It should have been
obvious to me that people who willingly sign up on a list to volunteer to
fellow GMCers who are in need of help on the road would be friendly and easy
to talk to. I even spoke to several people who no longer own a GMC but still
wanted to be included on the Black List to help any of us in need. They
still love the GMC and recognize this as a unique community, still wanting
to be a part of it.

I have come away from this experience with a renewed sense of what the GMC
means to me and many others as well. I devour every message on GMCList and
appreciate everyone's contributions. While it's obviously not a requirement
to sign up on the Black List, many of us do and is yet one more reason that
this GMC community is so special.

Thanks, Guy,

A friend of mine says in this country the best things are done by volunteers. Accepting volunteers at work in spite of the background checks required, I find that they always seem to get more out of the experience than they give. Funny thing about that.

Thanks again.

Guy,

This is exactly why I welcome new owners to the group the way I do. I have always been a waterman and this is the sort of support that I found so missing in the dry world. I am so fortunate to have found this group. I really want other owners to know about this, but social sites are clouding the situation. There are many owners that have no clue (clew (Wink) what sort of a community is available to help keep them going.

It's funny, EVERY blacklist call I ever got for down on the side of the road came in when I was overseas...in the middle of the night. Not the caller's fault, of course, as it's middle of the day for them!
