I’m new to this list. As of now I do not own GMC RV. After several years of yearning from afar it seems time to take the leap. So, I joined this list to learn more.
There three reasons I decided to move forward:
1) I have a small house and I like occasional out of town visitors so it’d make a great B & B in the driveway;
2) I want a “parade car ” and local car show vehicle, these are interesting enough to qualify
3) I can use it as an RV for the 2-4 hour trip to the beach from my house ( depending on which beach).
any suggestions on what to buy? I prefer a dry bath
Dave

Dave,
Welcome to the group! You don't mention too many specifics such as 23' or 26', how many people do you need to sleep, etc. You did specify a dry bath so I'll start there.
I own a 1976 Birchaven 23' rear dry bath. I love the 23' because I can fit it in my driveway where a 26' wouldn't fit.
My Brother in-law just bought a 1975 Avion model which has two rear twin beds and a side dry bath.
The 26' Royale also has a rear dry bath available. I'm sure there are other models with a dry bath and I'll let others pipe in.
Good luck on your search!

I too Coveted the dry bath and purchased an edgemont with dry side bath and rear twin. i did this sight unseen from the other side of the world. after picking it up and then attending a GMCMI convention my eyes were opened to what other possibilities were out there. don't get me wrong i am very happy with my coach but i think if i did it again it would be a rear bath model either a 23 or 26 foot for the following reasons
bigger shower
larger bathroom area
if a 26 foot then you can use the beds as a lounge during the day making a more spacious open feeling

Welcome to the madness. I too wanted a dry bath. It was in fact a requirement of everyone in the family we ended up with a palm beach with a wet bath and just don't use the shower. We had another brand of camper and realized we just didn't use the shower. We are ok using campground shower. And with most GMC's having a roughly 40 gallon holding tank showers fill it up quick. We bought after a year of looking at pictures and floor plans. We went and sat in 3 or 4 GMC's and finally decided that what we really wanted was a set of barrel chairs and the bunk bed couch. Everything else would just be. So go find a rally and visit with many friends or do like it did and contact someone on the black list and go have a beverage with them (thanks mike) and find out what really works for you. The black list is on bdub's site. I am on my phone right now and typing is hard enough without tying to put in a link.
Hope to see you around sometime.

I always forget the forum, my bad.

The sending address itself does not. But a quick Google revealed a
location to the email address.

You are correct, of course. At least he put his current RV into his
signature :D

I've a rear bath like Chuck Boyd's which we love. Mine was upfitted by Norris Coach, later purchased by Midas. Realize, his is in MUCH better condition than mine. However, if you have large coated dogs who must be bathed from time to time , or if you just like to soak in the tub, it's the answer. More than two people and two (large) dogs, you probably would like something with a bit more non-bathroom room. Also, if you dry camp (I don't) the limited water and sewer capacity makes the tub a liability. In parks where you've water and sewer hookup, it's the move. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

David,
Post your contact info and I'll send pictures an description of the 1976 low miles Eleganza I will be selling soon. No dry bath, but you may change your mind about that feature after you see a few coaches and get more input. Coach is currently in Northern California but I can deliver it any where in the lower 48 or Canada.

Randy extended the same offer to me and my wife when I was first looking for a GMC. He was more than gracious, spending a LOT of time walking me around his coach, downloading a huge amount of verbal data to us, and even letting me drive his coach around for a few miles. So you could say "it's all Randy's fault!!!".
I'd be happy to show you my 1978 Royale Center Kitchen with its dry side bath. It looks like we might miss each other though, due to holiday travel. Drop me a line to let me know how long you'll be in the Phoenix area and I'll see if there's any chance we'll be here on the same day.
To us, it's the perfect layout, and we've never once regretted getting this one. Yes, the dry bath takes up a little more room, but oh how nice those (short) showers are when we drive to Mexico a couple times a year to build houses with some high school kids. I'm a big fan of the improvements made to the coaches in the last couple years of production, though there are obviously some very nice earlier coaches out there.
One thing that might help us help you would be if you could give us a rough ballpark budget for your coach - no use us sending you after coaches that are 10x or 0.1x your budget...
