Hi you all,

I had my GMC Royale flatbed towed to Mondello in Paso Robles on 11-5-2014
from Oakland, CA since my new motor did not fire on cylinder # 4.

Well you can see what happened when send the pictures. My pride and joy GMC
got destroyed and I am heartbroken sick about it. I have spent hundreds of
hours to upgrade this coach, spend thousands of dollars on it, well now it's
all for nothing.

Now, my suggestion is the following. I am willing to negotiate on my GMC I
spent so much money and time with the Insurance Company if they are
reasonable for the total loss and buy it back and resell this super package
to anyone who wants it at a reasonable price. Shure I want to make a little
money and further the GMC community at the same time. Obviously you will
have to pick up all the parts from the Paso Robles location.

The main items available are Alcoa Wheels (7) and cover for the spare tire,
halon firefighting equipment over the engine , total of 22.5 lbs.
altogether . Electric windshield wipers, elect. cruise control, elect. hand
brake, four back system, one tone front end by Manny, disk brakes all
around, new Mondello 403 engine 10 year warranted, two new gas tanks 26,5
Gallon each, New refrigerator ( I do not know its condition at that time),
Ne toiles , new stove and microwave. True track and there is so much more in
this coach which could be salvaged.

I also have lots of spare parts for this coach, close to $ 6-7,000
including special tools for the GMC. If you are interested please let me
know I can give you further information so please contact me at my email
address. Thank you.

I enjoyed 26 years of my GMC, I put my heart into this coach, but now it's
gone. I am old and tired and heart broken, but maybe comes Spring 2015 I
will come back with some energy and buy another GMC coach.

I want to thank all you guys for all the support you gave me over the years
improving the coach, it was a lot of fun with toying with my GMC.

Best Regards

Peter D. Huber

Former GM C Royale 1978 owner with a new Mondello 403 engine.

My tears are rolling badly!

Peter sorry for the loss of your GMC I know it ment a lot to you. I remember it well as you were parked next to us at treasure island last month. Are you saying it burned up while at Mondello's for an engine repair for a dead cylinder?

Peter,

Your coach is one of the finest I've seen. I'm so sorry to hear that it's toast but could you salvage all those wonderful bits for your next coach? My goodness - did it fall off of the truck?

That's terrible news, Peter. As is the case with others here, we'd like to see/hear what happened so we could possibly avoid a similar happening ourselves.

Hello Peter,
It seems only yesterday that I was parked across from you at French Camp. I'm truly sorry that you've lost your jewel. It was truly a fine GMC.

Somewhere out there is a coach just waiting for you to turn it into a gem!

Apparently the rig carrying the coach rolled. See what is left:

As time goes by it will move down. Look for Peter Huber's Safe Tow. Thanks for the pictures, Gene.

If anyone wants to make the effort to re-body the coach I have a real nice 1978 Palm Beach shell. I don't know how much effort would be involved but it would be a nice way to bring two dead coaches back to life.

I often think of our coach as an over-sized pet, or as Matt says, a member of the family.
It's more than just a hobby, or a vehicle. We just spent a very enjoyable 3 weeks traveling
in our coach, and in a real sense, it's our home.

Hang in there Peter, our tears are flowing at your loss too.

Peter, I know you have to be devastated. I would be for sure. However, I'd encourage you to get the remains from the insurance company and save the great drivetrain and suspension components for your next coach. You can possibly find a really nice coach with a blown motor or something and just move your known good stuff to it. The coach that Chris just sold with a bad motor comes to mind.

Give it a little time. I'd hate to see you take a loss on the components and then have to pay retail to replace them down the road.

As odd as it may seem, not everybody in the world, or even on GMCNet has

That includes me and I have no way to open up the pics that Peter sent with the facebook link. And my computer won't open .mso picture files, either.

I have forwarded David Orders' email about the good 1978 Palm Beach shell to Peter.

I am very sorry for your loss. Sometime, maybe you can tell me about your tandem rear axle install. Best of luck.
