OK. First time I took the half shafts out of the coach. It is a 1 ton conversion. The information on the forum and elsewhere was invaluable.

Now I have the first one apart and have the parts cleaned out but not with mineral spirits. The bearings look alright as does the inner race and cage. The outer race has two gouges that I have been able to see and I am wondering if it means the outer race needs to be replaced.

I know doing this by pictures is hard, but I am hoping someone with more experience than this computer programmer will be able to tell me. If not, when in doubt replace it.
