Here is what I have on vents:

The first design used four outlets that had a GM part number of 698175.

Then beginning with serial number 6V100057 they added a duct assembly below the dash that held two 1602464.

The second design that I have on my 77, and which is the same on your 1978, eliminated the assembly below the dash and had two 1602464 in front of the driver in the dash. They still had two of the smaller vents by the glove box which I believe are #1606800..

If you are trying to find some in the junkyard The RH vents #1606800 fit the side of the 76-78 Caddy Seville.
The LH vents are #1602464 and are used on 74-78 all big Caddies and
79-81 RWD big Caddies. No Pontiac, Olds or Chevy.

If your vents are not cracked but just loose, then just take a hair drier and point it at the two tabs (one on each side) and while they are hot, bend the tabs out with a screwdriver a little and let them cool.. This should fix your problem of their falling or not staying pointed in the right direction.

I have also put a small piece of the Velcro stick-on material (fuzzy side) at each side of the vent pieces and that will give some more friction to keep them pointed in the right direction.

Great information, I think I found a couple on e-bay. Also found some NOS when I did a search on the internet, for $125?????

http://www.oldsobsolete.com/products-page/1976-cadillac-parts-for-sale/1976-1981-cadillac-air-duct-outlet-nos-1602464/

I am missing one of the two larger vents on the driver side, on each side of the steering column. I know they are the same as I have inserted the one I have into each outlet.

Thanks for the help, I am amazed at the wealth of knowledge on this site.
