The common designation for aluminum these days is .063 pronounced 'oh 63' when you're talking to the supplier. It will vary by +- .005 and tends to run on the thinner side because the mills make a bit more money since it's sold by the sheet, not the pound.
FYI, I just bought 5 sheets of .063 3003 H14 aluminum and it was $100 a 4x8 sheet. You can do the math and find out what the sq ft cost is. It is available in all sorts of sizes but the wide and long ones will cost a good bit extra. I understand that Jeff Sirum bought a new roof in one piece for the 32' stretch that is now owned by Paul Doane. Jeff said that the crating and shipping cost more than the aluminum.
