Espen,

Are you talking about the half-shaft or the flange on the final drive?
The flange on the final drive should not move much if at all.
The outer end of the half shaft should not move in and out, but pivot freely.
The inner end of the half shaft should move in and out freely and pivot only slightly.

Matt

I am talking about the part that goes into the final drive mounted with 1 bolt that has a flange that you mount the drive shaft

I would say maybe 1/8" movement in and out and maybe half of that up and down

Espen,

That sure ties it down.
I'm going to have to beg off here and hope someone more familiar comes along. I remember mine as not being as solid as I expected, but I memory isn't all that good about it either and my pictures don't help me any.

Thanks anyways Matt Smile

I am just not sure how much it matters, I will pull it out later to change the seal but I hope I do not have to change the final drive due to worn out splines

Espen,

Yes, the driver's side output shaft always feels very loose. I don't
remember the spec nor where to find it, but it's not a problem.

Espen,

That "floppy" flange gets EVERYBODY the first time they remove a final drive!

That is normal and common to most output shafts. As long as the seal doesn't leak you are OK
