Current ad for Staples shows a plastic label maker for $9.95. Very useful for labeling those wires that seem to multiply. Ken has everyone labeled. Tapes are expensive, but so all all of the supplies for these systems.
I'm getting there.

Yes but did he label the labeler that labeled all of the other labelers?

Quick funny story: Before Ken realized my "limitations" he was gently instructing me on how to label the various wires under the hood and dash. After a great lesson in wiring I was sent home to complete the job.

I appreciated the lesson but had (and still have) no more idea what those wires do or where they go than the day I was born onto this earth. Not wanting to disappoint AND to have a little fun I sent an hour or so labeling all the white wires "White Wire" and all the red wires "Red Wire" and, well you get the picture.

I may not know anything about wiring, but I do have a firm grasp on the workings of the labeler.

I am so thankful to have someone like Ken to watch over me and to withhold judgement at least until I've gone home. Smile

I have the $9.95 p-touch printers at each RF plant and one at the studios. They aren't good for as many wires as we have - I have a specialty Kroi wire labeller for them - but the time saved by printing i.p. addresses and computer names/uses on a rack full of machines is more than worth the money. On metered equipment we put nrmal readings and the like. Well worth ten scoots and the price of the tapes. We learned early on, when making a bunch of labels, print them in sequence with a space or two between each, and cut them apart with scissors. If you print individual labels one at a time, the waste tape adds up quickly.

Yes,
And it is also easier to carry one long strip and a pair of scissors. They are also easier to peel when all you have to do is roll them off the long cover strip. The only problem comes when the order is inconvenient but you can solve that by cutting loose the next in the string and storing it on some of the now clear cover strip.

I first was forced to buy one (the more expensive that can connect to a computer) for labeling client's rearranged or new power panels. In most owner's systems I still use Brady numbers and colors because I also have to supply final diagrams and wire lists, but I often flag OE or abandon wires with big alpha flags (so they know I did not do that).

My original 2300 failed recently (8~9 years old, won't power up), so I bought a replacement. The newer doesn't require as much tape waste, but there is still plenty to stick on the top of USB cables.
