Trying to stop all water intrusion and it seems that the upper aluminum
frame channels are letting in water somewhere. I heard some owners have put
"drains" at front and rear and ran a hose to under the coach to give the
water an"escape: route. Is the only way to make sure this leak is fixed to
remove the roof-line trim along the length of both sides of the coach ?
(and wreck the paint job) or are there other ideas ?

we don't want to put the interior back into the coach before resolving this
issue. Thanks !

Mark,

I fought a leak at the pass rear, resealed everything in the rear that came to mind including the gutter molding with no success.
then I decided to replace the shower vent with the upgrade vent (Fantastic Vent) to have more light in the shower, and when the next rain came there was NO leak.

When I removed the old round vent I noticed (it looked well sealed) that of the 6 pop rivets, 3 of them didn't grab the roof aluminum
sheet and the seal under the vent lip didn't look very good.

Another location is the tank vent, pull the cover and foam seal vent tube to roof and then seal the vent tube cover and screws.

In the front it can be the tv antenna mount, the front cap seam, cockpit side windows.

Just food for thought.

G'day,

The way to find leaks is to find a facility that has a large squirrel cage blower that can be connected to one of the GMC's window.

Once connected and turned on the blower will pressurize the inside of the GMC and you can get on the roof with a soapy solution
which you spread around anything that is mounted on the roof.

You will get bubbles wherever there is a leak.

Dixielanders has a club owned large squirrel cage blower for that purpose. Available for club member use. You are responsible for retrieving and returning it. Currently located in Northern Florida, as I recall. Contact club president for further information.

A couple of questions to piggyback on the OP's,

What is the preferred sealant for the GMC nooks and crannies? I've read how much silicone is loathed.

How big of fans will work? I have unlimited access to 470 CFM units and was thinking of using a couple of them.

Mark,
Your interior is out? Did you take the cabinets and ceiling down? How about the side panels? If all of that is out, have Dawn systematically run a hose over the roof while you are inside watching for the leaks. While doing ours, we had all interior out and took the coach to a rally. That night it rained very hard. I took a flashlight and went around looking for leaks. Marked all of the leaks with magic marker. We actually found most of the leaks around the two large side windows and the windshield. Ended up taking the windows out and resealing. After fixing all of the leaks discovered during the rain, I then ran hose over the roof to confirm that all was well. Put the interior in and havn't seen a leak since. JWID
