Question on tire wear.

All of a sudden both the right and left tires on my center axle started cupping.  They've not gotten so bad, riding in the coach is a vibrating nightmare.  I noticed it first on the right one, that tire is now horrible.  I'm now noticing bad cupping on the left.  Front drive tires are fine and rear axle tires are fine.

Does anyone have any ideas on what would cause this.  Bearings are good with no play in the wheels.

I'm baffled, and before I go and buy new tires I'd like to have some idea on what's going so I just don't ruin a new set.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ray

Check your shocks. My left rear shock was jammed and it almost completely unloaded the middle tire. The right rear shock was bad as well (stiff and leaking). Both forward shocks were fine.

Are they cupping on the center of the tire or along one edge? If one edge is it the inner or outer?

I dont know, but more information is needed.
What air pressure are you running?
Are you using any kind of bogie tru-trac mechanism?
Is the play in your bogie bushings within tolerance?
What tires are you running?

for starters ...

I would suggest that the shocks are bad on the middle bogy and I would check all the shocks if they have been installed for a number of years. I had a similar issue with the set of Caspro HD shocks on our 77 Eleganza II. All of the shocks were bad and provided no damping action and I had the 4 rear tires cup. The ride improved 1000% when we installed a complete set of KYB shocks.
